zkanji v0.59 released

The first (hope)fully Unicode ready version of zkanji can now be downloaded from sourceforge. There have been so many other changes and fixes, that even if you don’t need to use special characters from exotic languages, please update the program.

(In case you have downloaded the test version and you are using that normally, then it won’t notify you about this update. I forgot to change version number to v0.591. Sorry.)

    Hello!
I just found out about your dictionary and I thought that it might be really good to learn some new kanji. So I downloaded the newest version of it and now exploring. 🙂
Im still completely new to it but.. one of the first things I found out while randomly clicking on different options is: 油揚げ is written in kana as あぶらげ, but it should be あぶらあげ. Meaning that one あ is missing.
Just thought that I should let you know.
Anyways, you did a great job creating this dictionary and I hope you continue with your work! 🙂 ありがとう!

      Hi Airyn!

zkanji uses the free dictionary database called JMDict so I can’t take credit for creating it. 🙂 You will find that both あぶらげ and あぶらあげ are in the dictionary. JMDict not only has generally accepted word forms but also common mistakes, and there are many other examples of this.

There is a frequency number recorded for many words in zkanji, you can see orange, gray and red symbols on the left side of the dictionary. Move your mouse over them and the frequency will be shown as a tooltip. This can help you decide which words to use. (The frequency number was created from the frequency of words in newspapers, so it can be misleading sometimes.)

Thank you very much for the new version, especially for full Unicode support.
I can add the meaning of words from 国语 大 辞典 now.
*With tears of joy* Thank you very much again. -(_ _)-
